The Open Manifesto is an independent non-profit organization (registered association in the Czech Republic). Its work is to contribute to the evolution of human rights thinking by developing a carefully reasoned framework that maps the structural conditions of our moment and asks what kind of systems, and what kind of citizens, the future requires.
It is intentionally open. The document invites challenge and revision. It does not pretend to have resolved the questions it raises. It is an attempt to ask better questions about consciousness, responsibility, and the relationship between individual behaviour and collective outcomes, with more honesty than most public discourse allows.
It is intentionally non-dogmatic. The manifesto does not align with any political party or ideological tradition. It articulates structural observations: about systemic inequality, democratic erosion, ecological limits, and the conditions under which human dignity and agency remain viable. These are observations people across many traditions can engage with, without surrendering the distinctions that matter to them.
What this is
The Open Manifesto is a structured reflection on human nature, systems, and the future of civilization. It offers a framework for understanding how our conditions are shaped and how they can evolve.
Our aims and collaboration
Our aims extend beyond the document itself. The Open Manifesto seeks to build a global movement of people who share an interest in systemic thinking, human rights, and long-horizon responsibility, not as members of a closed institution, but as participants in an evolving public conversation.
We actively seek collaboration with other non-profit organizations, civil society initiatives, research institutions, and movements working in adjacent fields: from human rights advocacy to climate action to digital rights. The problems this manifesto addresses are shared problems that require coordinated effort, not isolated work.
Our long-term aim is to contribute meaningfully to the evolution of human rights frameworks, at the level of ideas, advocacy and, where appropriate, institutional engagement. We approach that engagement with care. It is conditional on maintaining the independence and integrity of the work.
Why this exists
Public discourse in most of the world has become fragmented in ways that make collective thinking increasingly difficult. This is not simply a problem of misinformation, though misinformation is part of it. It is a problem of how we reason: the habits, incentives, and structures that shape the kind of thinking that gets rewarded and the kind that gets ignored.
Systemic thinking, the ability to understand how structures produce outcomes and how interventions in complex systems ripple far from their intended targets, is not reliably taught or rewarded by our institutions. We tend to think in episodes rather than systems, in individuals rather than structures, and in the short term rather than across generations.
The problems we face, whether ecological, political, or technological, require precisely the opposite. They require longer timescales, broader perspectives, and more honesty about the limits of our current understanding. The Open Manifesto is a contribution, however small, to building that capacity.
How to engage
There is no single right way to participate in this initiative. Here are the most natural entry points.
Origin
The Open Manifesto was established as a registered non-profit organization, growing from a personal concern about the direction of public life and a belief that the right response was to write something careful and make it available. It was developed without institutional commission or commercial affiliation.
It is open to global participation. The ideas it contains do not belong to any one country, tradition, or professional discipline. Signatories come from many different backgrounds, and the document is intended to be legible and relevant across those differences.
Current version: v1.0. The manifesto is a living document. It changes through the proposals process as the community deliberates and responds.

Author's Note
This work began with a simple realization: many of the challenges we face are not isolated problems, but expressions of deeper systemic conditions.
Over time, it became clear that a more integrated way of thinking was needed, one that connects human nature, systems, and long-term responsibility.
The manifesto was written independently, outside institutional structures, with the intention to contribute something careful, open, and usable.
It does not belong to its author.
It is an invitation to examine, question, and continue the work.
